A lengthy, formal document that argues in defense of a particular thesis. Dissertation is an extensive research to support a thesis. It is based on two adjectives that are ‘original’ and ‘substantial’. In all a dissertation is to highlight original contributions.
The essence of a dissertation is critical thinking on any particular or specific topic. Thus

For writing dissertations each sentence in it must be complete and correct in a grammatical sense. Moreover a dissertation must satisfy the stringent formal rules and must be crystal clear explaining the meanings intended and should be defensible in a logical and scientific sense.
